Jonathan Wiersma

Director - Data and Analytics Centre

Currently I lead the Data and Analytic Centre for JnJ IM – Canada. In this role I work with all levels of our organization to “To boldly drive performance and deliver results by seeing the things others don’t see”. I help strategize and develop solutions for complex problems using AI, ML, DS and innovative data sets.

Previously, I have worked with companies like AWS and IQVIA to help publicly funded agencies (Health, Academic, Government) recognize and optimize the value and to think different about their data and analytic strategies. The bulk (20+) years of my career has been with the public sector, leading various organizations across both Health centers and Government. I strive to leverage data to drive strategy and evaluate health system performance to facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of Health Care services.

I have an undergraduate degree in Bio-Medical Physics and a master’s in Biology from Laurentian University, Sudbury. I am also an EXTRA fellow with the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement. I also hold an academic appointment as the founding Math Professor in the Big Data and Analytics program at Georgian College. Happily married and a father of three, I am a passionate leader with expert understanding of how information shapes and executes strategy.
