Edward Thommes is an interdisciplinary scientist, strategist and decision-science leader working at the intersection of public health, applied mathematics and epidemiology. His career spans more than 25 years of academic and applied research, including 14 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He is currently Director of Strategy and Operations of the AI4Casting Hub at the University of Guelph, where he helps lead the development of AI-enabled infectious disease forecasting capacity for Canada. His work focuses on building the partnerships, methods and infrastructure needed to help Canada anticipate emerging risks, respond to uncertainty, and strengthen resilience across public health and other critical systems. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Guelph.
