José Lara

Director, Service Enablement and Process Optimization

José Lara is the Director of Service Enablement & Process Optimization for International Operations (IO) at Scotiabank. In this role, José and his team act as governance for International Banking (IB) Smart Automation, IB Customer Service Unit (CSU), and Operations Technology teams across Mexico, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Caribbean, Central America and Uruguay (CCAU) Regions. He acts as a catalyst for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics while bringing Tech & Ops closer to the business.

José joined Scotiabank in 2018 as Sr. Manager, PMO and more recently, he has been serving as Sr. Manager, Design Delivery, pushing technology and enabling digitization and automation by creating and overseeing 10 SmartCenters across International and Canadian Banking. Due to his outstanding performance, José received the Best Contributor to a Digital Transformation award in 2021. José holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering with concentration in Telecommunications from UNEXPO and a Master’s degree in Innovation and Enterprise Development with concentration in Entrepreneurship from Tec Monterrey and Stanford University, respectively. He also holds the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Professional and Lean Six Sigma Champion certifications from MSI. Lastly, he completed the UiPath RPA Reboot Work program from UiPath and recently completed Artificial Intelligence – Implications for Business Strategy from MIT SLOAN in collaboration with MIT CSAIL, and Executive Strategy Programme in Oxford University.

On a side note, José is from Venezuela, he likes to cycling, paddle boarding, playing sport, and dancing latin music.
